I am a Belgian guy living in Berlin since 2006. I can advise you in German, English, French and Spanish.
I got a certificate as a dog trainer (behaviour analysis) in Berlin and I deepened my knowledge by learning behaviorism (dogs, cats and smal mammals) at ILS.
I got further practical experience through assisting dog trainers in Berlin and following seminars at Pfotenakademie.com. I also got to discover Tellington TTouch at the GREH dog school. Hence, the veterinary department of Tempelhof-Schöneberg licensed me to train dogs.
I will explain you how your pet sees the world and reacts to it therefore you and I can organize together the daily life of your pet and ensure a smooth and joyfull cohabitation for all family members (humans and animals).
Please get an expert advise BEFORE you host a pet! I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Training methods
Which methods should we use? Which method suits my pet? Is there another one?
Some say there are as many training methods as trainers. There are nonetheless two kinds of approaches that we distinguish by the use of punishment. The so called 'violence free training' works exclusively with positive reinforcement and refuses punishment as a training method.
What is a positive reinforcement? A direct reward (a treat, a compliment or a caress/eye contact). The removal of a reward is considered by some schools as a punishment.
What is a punishment? Ethologically speaking a punishment is the use of an aversive stimulus but also the removal of a reward. Detractors of the violence free school do use aversive stimuli (training discs, physical blocking, etc.) because they think the sole use of positive reinforcement cannot train a wrong behaviour away.
Is there no perfect training method then? No. But there is a method that can suit both the dog and its owner. Both partners must feel confident with the method. This depends on your dog but on you as well.
I will help you find the right method.
Dog
Basic obedience/activities: 35€/hour
Behavioural problems (fear, barking, etc.): 35€/hour
Supervision and advising in an off-leash area: 50€/hour
Small mammals are highly social and they need partners of their own species (except the hamster). A solitary life does not match their social needs and can lead to stress and health problems!
3 animals is a minimum for the stability of a group.
Advising appointment before the adoption (Phone/Zoom): 10€ for every 15 minutes and part thereof
(the adoption of pets might be inadvisable!)
Shaping of the daily life/activities: 35€/hour
Behavioural problems (fear, agression, etc.): 50€/hour
Would my pet accept another one?
Dogs and rabbits need a social life; cats are "lone wolfes" and can grow up very social or remain solitary depending on their personality and background.
Adopting a second pet of the same species requests some check-up and adjustments.
Differents species can cohabite very harmonously but only when the communication has been correctly established.
Advising appointment before the adoption (Phone/Zoom): 15€ for every 15 minutes and part thereof
(the adoption of a second pet might be inadvisable!)
Shaping of the daily life/activities: 45€/hour
